Materialism

Like I always say we are all materialist in a way but on different levels, we all like the cool and nice stuff but when some of us will go to extremes to get what they really really like by any means necessary, others will just choose not too get what they can't afford.

A look at materialism, and how it's destroying the American Dream.

Living in America made me realize that in this land of opportunity you could easily become whathever you wanted to be as long as you put your heart into it. But that American dream has changed I must sadly say. Nowadays to show the world how succesful you are you ''must'' have a Lavish home and drive an expensive car. Spend every last dollar till you can't spend anymore. It's the common myth that if you hold on to money too long, it'll burn a hole in your pocket. Not only is it enough to relinquish every dollar in your possession, but to take loans out on your future earnings.
Money is so present in our society, that when the financial crisis hit us, some people were literally jumping out windows and Grown men fell to their knees and wept like a grieving widow as their 401 k's dropped alongside the stock market.
Summer house, winter house, beach house, town house, house in the Swiss Alps, while homeless people stagger around in each major city in this country. There's never enough, and you can always have more.
We're constantly bombarded by commercial after commercial on TV, radio, and even the internet trying to get us to buy whatever. There's always something better and faster.
House mortgage, car loan, utilities, cell phones, and insurance. What do all these things have in common? You're going to pay them every month. Month after month, with no vacation in sight. You spend your entire life working, to only have to continue working to pay off the debts you've amassed through your small lifetime. You might make more, but you also spend more.
There was a time, that a family could live fairly well with just one parent working. Now it takes two to just break even.
It's not enough in society to just survive anymore, it's now a bitter sweet war to the top of the mountain. It's such a fight between the have's and the have nots, that it's taken on it's own literary term. Class Warfare. It is not a matter of age, religion, sex, and even race. Society picks it's winners and losers based on economic status.
We should cherish what we have, instead of focusing on the things we don't. There's no better time than right now to look back on the mistakes we've made, and move forward with a new attitude towards ourselves. Men and women alike are losing their jobs at an alarming rate. Right now is the future, and future looks grim if we consciously snub our nose at anyone who doesn't have it as good as we
do.

I know it's time for a change in our daily life.
